Consequences of Preventing Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) warned the unbelievers of the consequences of preventing Muslims from offering their prayers.

'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) reported the Messenger of Allah as saying on the day of Battle of Khandaq (Trench). They (the unbelievers) prevented us from offering the middle prayer ie 'Asr prayer. May Allah fill their houses and their graves with Hell-fire.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، - رضى الله عنه - أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ ‏ "‏ حَبَسُونَا عَنْ صَلاَةِ الْوُسْطَى صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ مَلأَ اللَّهُ بُيُوتَهُمْ وَقُبُورَهُمْ نَارًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences that will be faced by those who prevent Muslims from offering their prayers. On the day of Battle of Khandaq, when the unbelievers prevented Muslims from offering 'Asr prayer, Prophet Muhammad warned them that Allah will fill their houses and graves with Hell-fire if they continue to do so. This hadith teaches us that we should never stop anyone from performing religious duties and it also warns us about the consequences if we do so. It also teaches us to have faith in Allah and His justice as He will always punish those who are wrongdoers in this world or hereafter.
