Sahih al-Bukhari 206 (Book 4, Hadith 72) #206
Mindfulness in Ablution and Wearing Khuffs

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught us to be mindful of our ablution and the importance of keeping our Khuffs on after performing ablution.

Narrated 'Urwa bin Al-Mughira: My father said, "Once I was in the company of the Prophet on a journey and I dashed to take off his Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather). He ordered me to leave them as he had put them after performing ablution. So he passed wet hands over them.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your ablutions; Follow instructions from elders or knowledgeable people; Obey Allah's commands; Keep your khuffs on after performing ablution; Respect those with knowledge or experience.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by 'Urwa bin Al-Mughira, who was in the company of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on a journey. He noticed that the Prophet ﷺ had put on his khuffs after performing ablution, so he dashed to take them off. However, the Prophet ﷺ instructed him to leave them as they were and passed wet hands over them. This teaches us that we should be mindful of our ablutions and keep our khuffs on after performing it. It also shows us how important it is for Muslims to follow instructions from their elders or those with knowledge even if it may seem unnecessary at first glance. We should always remember that Allah knows best what is beneficial for us in this life and hereafter, so we must strive to obey His commands as much as possible.
