Prayer Times and Bathing for Women with Prolonged Flow of Blood

SUMMARY: This hadith explains the instructions given to a woman with a prolonged flow of blood in the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) regarding prayer times and bathing.

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: A woman had a prolonged flow of blood in the time of the Messenger of Allah . She was commanded to advance the afternoon prayer and delay the noon prayer, and to take a bath for them only once; and to delay the sunset prayer and advance the night prayer and to take a bath only once for them; and to take a bath separately for the dawn prayer. I (Shu'bah) asked AbdurRahman: (Is it) from the Prophet ? I do not report to you anything except from the Prophet .

Follow religious obligations while managing health conditions at ease

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the instructions given to a woman with a prolonged flow of blood in the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The woman was instructed to advance the afternoon prayer and delay the noon prayer, and take only one bath for them both. She was also instructed to delay the sunset prayer and advance the night prayer, taking only one bath for them both as well. Lastly, she was told to take a separate bath for her dawn prayer. These instructions were given by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself so that women can still fulfill their religious obligations while managing their health condition at ease. It is important that we follow these teachings even today as it is an act that pleases Allah SWT.
