Abstaining During Menstruation

SUMMARY: Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin, abstained from coming near the Prophet until she was purified after her menstruation.

Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: When I menstruated, I left the bed and lay on the reed-mat and did not approach or come near the Messenger of Allah until we were purified.
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ - عَنْ أَبِي الْيَمَانِ، عَنْ أُمِّ ذَرَّةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كُنْتُ إِذَا حِضْتُ نَزَلْتُ عَنِ الْمِثَالِ عَلَى الْحَصِيرِ فَلَمْ نَقْرُبْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَلَمْ نَدْنُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى نَطْهُرَ
