Praying Without Ablution

SUMMARY: The Prophet kissed one of his wives and went out to pray without performing ablution.

'Aishah reported: The Prophet kissed one of his wives and went out to pray (salah). He did not perform ablution'.Urwah said: I said to her: Who is she except you! Thereupon she laughed. Abu Dawud said: The same version has been reported through a different chain of narrators.
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَبَّلَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ ‏.‏ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا مَنْ هِيَ إِلاَّ أَنْتِ فَضَحِكَتْ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ هَكَذَا رَوَاهُ زَائِدَةُ وَعَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الأَعْمَشِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad kissing one of his wives before going out to pray without performing ablution. 'Urwah asked Aishah who the wife was, and she laughed in response. This hadith shows that even though it is important for Muslims to perform ablution before prayer, there are certain exceptions where it is not necessary. It also shows that the Prophet was a loving husband who showed affection towards his wives.
