Be honest in your dealings with others and make sure you are only trading what you actually have in your possession

This hadith explains that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forbade the selling of foodstuff before it is measured and transferred into one's possession. This means that a person cannot sell something they do not have in their possession yet. It would be like selling money for money as the food has not been handed over to the seller yet. This teaches us to be honest in our dealings with others and to make sure we are only trading what we actually have in our possession. We should also ensure that all goods are properly measured so that everyone involved gets a fair deal.
