Sunan Abi Dawud 177 (Book 1, Hadith 177) #20468
Praying with Doubt

SUMMARY: If one is praying and feels a movement between their legs, they should not stop praying unless they hear a sound or smell something.

Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah said: If any one of you offers prayer and feels a movement between his paddocks, but is doubtful whether or not his ablution broke, he should not cease praying unless he hears a sound or perceives a smell.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful during prayer; continue even when there is doubt; be aware of ablutions before starting prayer .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of prayer in Islam and how to handle doubts during prayer. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that if someone is in the middle of their prayer and feels a movement between their legs, but are unsure if it means that their ablution has broken, they should not stop praying until they hear a sound or smell something. This teaches us to be mindful of our prayers and to continue even when we have doubts so as not to disrupt our worship. It also shows us the importance of being aware of our ablutions before we start praying so that we can avoid any doubt while in prayer.
