Sunan Abi Dawud 25 (Book 1, Hadith 25) #20316
Avoiding Cursing Provoking Actions

SUMMARY: The Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) warned against two things that provoke cursing, which are easing in the watering places and on the thoroughfares, and in the shade of a tree.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) as saying : Be on your guard against two things which provoke cursing. They (the hearers) said : Prophet of Allaah ( sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam), what are these things which provoke cursing: easing in the watering places and on the thoroughfares, and in the shade (of the tree)(where they take shelter and rest).

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your behavior when you are out in public spaces; respect other people's space and property; avoid provoking negative reactions from those around you by being respectful towards them; avoid activities such as easing which may cause inconvenience or disruption to others .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about avoiding actions that can lead to cursing. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned his followers against two such actions - easing in the watering places and on the thoroughfares, and in the shade of a tree. These activities can be seen as disrespectful or inappropriate for public spaces, as they may cause inconvenience to others or disrupt public order. Therefore, it is important to be mindful of our behavior when we are out in public so that we do not provoke any negative reactions from those around us. Additionally, this hadith also serves as a reminder for us to be respectful of other people's space and property when we are out in public areas.
