Drinking Alcohol in Disguise

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) warned that some people in his Ummah will drink alcohol, but call it by another name.

Ibn Muhairiz narrated from a man among the Companions of the Prophet SAW that : The Prophet SAW said: "People among my Ummah will drink Khamr, calling it by another name".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ - عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ حَفْصٍ، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ مُحَيْرِيزٍ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ يَشْرَبُ نَاسٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي الْخَمْرَ يُسَمُّونَهَا بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) warned his followers about the dangers of drinking alcohol. He said that some people in his Ummah will try to disguise their drinking of alcohol by calling it something else. This is a reminder to us all that we should stay away from any kind of intoxicants and not be fooled by those who try to hide their wrongdoings with different names or excuses. We should also be aware of our surroundings and not let anyone around us get away with such behavior without being held accountable for it. This hadith teaches us the importance of staying away from intoxicants and being mindful of our actions as well as those around us.
