Compassion for Slaves

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) ordered that a slave be paid one Sa of dates and his masters to reduce his tax.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Abu Taiba cupped Allah's Messenger so he ordered that he be paid one Sa of dates and ordered his masters to reduce his tax (as he was a slave and had to pay a tax to them).

QUICK LESSONS:
Show compassion towards those who are less fortunate than you regardless of their social status or financial standing.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of showing compassion towards slaves. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) demonstrated this by ordering that a slave, Abu Taiba, be paid one Sa of dates and his masters to reduce his tax. This act of kindness is an example for us all to follow in our own lives. We should strive to show compassion towards those who are less fortunate than us, regardless of their social status or financial standing. We should also remember that Allah is watching over us and will reward us for our good deeds in this life and the hereafter.
