Prohibitions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) forbade 'Ali from using gold rings, Al-Qassi, Al-Mitharah and Al-Ji'ah.

It was narrated that 'Ali - may Allah honor his face - said: "The Prophet SAW forbade to me to use gold rings, Al-Qassi, Al-Mitharah and Al-Ji'ah (a barley drink)".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ رُزَيْقٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ صَعْصَعَةَ بْنِ صُوحَانَ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، كَرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَجْهَهُ قَالَ نَهَانِي النَّبِيُّ عَنْ حَلْقَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمِيثَرَةِ وَالْجِعَةِ

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Ali ibn Abi Talib states that the Prophet Muhammad forbade him from using gold rings, a type of drink called al Qassi, al Mitharah and al Ji’yah. This hadith is an example of how the Prophet Muhammad was very mindful of his companions and their well being. He wanted to ensure that they were not indulging in activities or consuming items which could be harmful to them in any way. This hadith also teaches us about moderation and self control as it encourages us to stay away from things which may be considered luxurious or excessive. It also serves as a reminder for us to follow the teachings of our beloved prophet so that we can lead a life full of blessings and success.
