The Prophet's Financial Wisdom

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) bought food grains from a Jew on credit and mortgaged his armor to him as collateral.

Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Messenger bought food grains from a Jew on credit and mortgaged his armor to him.
حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتِ اشْتَرَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مِنْ يَهُودِيٍّ طَعَامًا بِنَسِيئَةٍ، وَرَهَنَهُ دِرْعَهُ‏.‏
