Sunan an-Nasai 5563 (Book 51, Hadith 24) #20095
Avoiding Mixing Potent Things

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) forbade people from mixing two things together when one is more potent than the other. He also disliked the extra bit on Al-Busr, fearing that it might make it two things.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW forbade us to soak two things together when one is more potent than the other. I asked him about Fadikh (a drink made from fresh dates cut open) and he forbade it. He disliked the extra bit on Al-Busr, fearing that that might make it two things, so we used to cut it off".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be careful about what you mix together and think carefully before taking any action in order for us not to do anything wrong or harmful unintentionally .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to be mindful of what we mix together and not to mix two things when one is more potent than the other. This hadith specifically mentions a drink called Fadikh which was made from fresh dates cut open and he forbade it because of its potency. He also disliked the extra bit on Al-Busr as he feared that this might make it two things so people used to cut it off instead. This hadith teaches us to be careful about what we mix together and not to combine something with something else if one is more powerful than the other as this could lead to negative consequences. It also encourages us to think carefully before taking any action in order for us not to do anything wrong or harmful unintentionally.
