The Unlawfulness of Al-Busr

SUMMARY: Eating Al-Busr on its own is unlawful, and even when mixed with dried dates it is still unlawful.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "Al-Busr on their own are unlawful and with dried dates they are unlawful".
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ الْبُسْرُ وَحْدَهُ حَرَامٌ وَمَعَ التَّمْرِ حَرَامٌ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that eating a certain type of food called al-busr on its own is prohibited in Islam. Even if it is mixed with dried dates, it remains prohibited. This hadith was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas, who was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and one of his relatives. He was known for his knowledge and understanding of the Quran and Sunnah. The values taught in this hadith are obedience to Allah's commands, abstaining from what has been forbidden, and following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ .
