Prohibiting the Soaking of Raisins & Dried Dates

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) forbade soaking raisins and dried dates together, and he also forbade soaking Al-Busr and dried dates together.

It was narrated from Jabir that: The Messenger of Allah SAW forbade soaking raisins and dried dates together, and he forbade soaking Al-Busr and dried dates together.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ نَهَى أَنْ يُنْبَذَ الزَّبِيبُ وَالتَّمْرُ جَمِيعًا وَنَهَى أَنْ يُنْبَذَ الْبُسْرُ وَالتَّمْرُ جَمِيعًا‏.‏

This hadith is about the teachings of Prophet Muhammad regarding the prohibition of soaking raisins and dried dates together, as well as prohibiting the soaking of Albusr with dried dates. The Prophet was teaching us to be mindful in our food preparation practices, so that we can ensure that we are eating healthy foods that are not mixed with other ingredients which may not be beneficial for our health. He was also teaching us to be mindful in our food consumption habits, so that we can ensure that we are consuming foods which will benefit us rather than harm us. By following these teachings, Muslims can ensure they are living a healthy lifestyle according to Islamic principles.
