Forbidden Mixing of Dates

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) forbade mixing dried dates and raisins, and Al-Busr and ripe dates.

'Ata' narrated from Jabir that: The Prophet SAW forbade mixing dried dates and raisins, and Al-Busr and ripe dates.
أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَعِيدٍ - عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ نَهَى عَنْ خَلِيطِ التَّمْرِ وَالزَّبِيبِ وَالْبُسْرِ وَالرُّطَبِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of mixing certain types of dates. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forbade the mixing of dried dates, raisins, Al Busr, and ripe dates. Dried dates are called timmar in Arabic while raisins are known as inab. Al Busr is a type of date that is neither dry nor ripe while ripe dates are known as timmar al khalal in Arabic. This hadith teaches us to be mindful when it comes to food items that we consume on a daily basis. We should not mix different types of food items together as this could lead to health issues or even spoilage due to improper storage or handling.
