Soaking Fruits Together

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) advised against soaking Az-Zahuw and ripe dates together, as well as raisins and ripe dates together.

It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that: The Messenger of Allah SAW said: "Do not soak Az-Zahuw and ripe dates together, and do not soak raisins and ripe dates together".
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ - عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَنْبِذُوا الزَّهْوَ وَالرُّطَبَ جَمِيعًا وَلاَ تَنْبِذُوا الزَّبِيبَ وَالرُّطَبَ جَمِيعًا

This is likely because the combination of these fruits can create a sour taste that is unpleasant to eat. By following this advice we can ensure that our food tastes good when we eat it. Additionally, this hadith teaches us to be mindful of what combinations of food are healthy for us to consume. We should always strive to make sure that the food we eat is nutritious and beneficial for our bodies.
