Seeking Refuge with Allah from Five Things

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) used to seek refuge with Allah from five things, which are cowardice, miserliness, reaching the age of second childhood, the trials of the heart and the torment of the grave.

It was narrated that 'Urwah bin Maimun said: "I heard 'Umar bin Al-Khattab say: 'The Messenger of Allah SAW used to seek refuge with Allah from five things and say: Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-jubni, wal-bukhli, wa suw'il-'umuri, wa fitnatis-sadri wa 'adhabil-qabr (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from cowardice, miserliness, reaching the age of second childhood, the trials of the heart and the torment of the grave)'"

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge with Allah from five things. These five things are cowardice, miserliness, reaching an age where one is no longer able to think clearly or take care for oneself properly, trials that come upon one's heart and soul and finally torment in the grave. The Prophet Muhammad SAW taught us that we should seek refuge in Allah from these five things as they can be difficult to overcome without His help. We should remember this hadith when we feel overwhelmed by any situation or difficulty in our lives so that we can turn to Him for help and guidance.
