Sunan an-Nasai 5329 (Book 48, Hadith 290) #19861
Proper Length of Izar

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught that the Izar should come to the middle of the shins and calf, but not lower than that.

It was narrated that Hudhaifah said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW said: 'The Izar should come to the middle of the shins and the calf. If you insist, then a little lower, and if you insist, then a little further down, but the Izar has no right to (come to) the ankle". This is the wordings of Muhammad.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic teachings regarding clothing; Be modest; Be humble; Wear clothes at appropriate lengths

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Hudhaifah states that Prophet Muhammad taught about the proper length of an Izar, which is a type of garment worn by men. He said it should come to the middle of one's shins and calf, but if someone insists on wearing it lower then they can go a little further down, however it should never reach one's ankle. This hadith teaches us about modesty and humility in our dress code as Muslims. It also shows us how important it is to follow Islamic teachings even in small matters such as clothing. We must remember that Allah knows what we do even when no one else does, so we must always strive to be modest and humble in our actions and dress code according to Islamic teachings.
