Dyeing Clothes with Safflower is Prohibited

SUMMARY: The Prophet (SAW) got angry when he saw Abdullah bin Amr wearing two garments dyed with safflower and asked him to take them off and throw them in the fire.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Amr that: He came to the Prophet SAW wearing two garments dyed with safflower. The Prophet SAW got angry and said: "Go and take them off". He said: "Where should I throw them, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "In the fire".
أَخْبَرَنِي حَاجِبُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ وَعَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَانِ مُعَصْفَرَانِ فَغَضِبَ النَّبِيُّ وَقَالَ ‏"‏ اذْهَبْ فَاطْرَحْهُمَا عَنْكَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَيْنَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏"‏ فِي النَّارِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an incident between the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Abdullah bin Amr. The Prophet ﷺ was displeased when he saw that Abdullah was wearing two garments dyed with safflower. He asked him to take them off and throw them in the fire. This hadith teaches us that dyeing clothes with safflower is prohibited in Islam as it displeased the Prophet ﷺ. It also teaches us to be respectful of our elders and follow their instructions without questioning or arguing back. We should always remember that Allah has given us guidance through His Messenger ﷺ so we should strive to follow it as best as we can for our own benefit in this world and hereafter.
