Sahih al-Bukhari 2049 (Book 34, Hadith 3) #1966
Bond of Brotherhood & Wedding Banquet

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) established a bond of brotherhood between 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf and Sa'd bin Ar-Rabi al-Ansari. When 'Abdur-Rahman got married, the Prophet (ﷺ) asked him what he paid for his wife and told him to give a wedding banquet even if with one sheep.

Narrated Anas: When 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf came to Medina, the Prophet established a bond of brotherhood between him and Sa'd bin Ar-Rabi al-Ansari. Sa'd was a rich man, so he said to 'Abdur-Rahman, "I will give you half of my property and will help you marry"'.Abdur-Rahman said (to him), "May Allah bless you in your family and property. Show me the market". So 'Abdur-Rahman did not return from the market) till he gained some dried buttermilk (yogurt) and butter (through trading). He brought that to his house-hold. We stayed for sometime (or as long as Allah wished), and then 'Abdur-Rahman came, scented with yellowish perfume. The Prophet said (to him) "What is this?" He replied, "I got married to an Ansari woman". The Prophet asked, "What did you pay her?" He replied, "A gold stone or gold equal to the weight of a date stone". The Prophet said (to him), "Give a wedding banquet even if with one sheep".

QUICK LESSONS:
Establish bonds of brotherhood; Celebrate special occasions like weddings; Be generous towards others; Show kindness towards others .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of establishing a bond of brotherhood between two people, as well as celebrating marriage with a wedding banquet even if it is only with one sheep. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ established a bond between Abdur Rahman bin Auf and Sa'd bin Ar Rabi al Ansari when Abdur Rahman arrived in Medina. When Abdur Rahman got married, the Prophet ﷺ asked him what he paid for his wife and told him to give a wedding banquet even if it was only with one sheep. This hadith teaches us that we should be generous in our relationships by establishing bonds of brotherhood and celebrating marriages by giving wedding banquets, no matter how small they may be. It also shows us that we should not be stingy when it comes to showing kindness towards others or celebrating special occasions such as weddings or births in our families or communities.
