The Importance of Modesty in Faith

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught that modesty is an important part of faith.

It was narrated from Salim, from his father, that: The Messenger of Allah SAW passed by a man who was censuring his brother about modesty. He said: "Let him be, for modesty is part of faith".
أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ح وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ عَنْ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ عَلَى رَجُلٍ يَعِظُ أَخَاهُ فِي الْحَيَاءِ فَقَالَ دَعْهُ فَإِنَّ الْحَيَاءَ مِنْ الْإِيمَانِ

This hadith teaches us the importance of modesty in our faith. It was narrated by Salim from his father that the Prophet Muhammad passed by a man who was scolding his brother about being modest and he said "Let him be, for modesty is part of faith". This hadith shows us how important it is to be modest and how it is connected to our faith. Being modest means having respect for yourself and others around you as well as behaving in a way that does not bring shame or dishonor upon yourself or your family. It also means being humble and not showing off or bragging about your accomplishments or possessions. By following these teachings we can become better people and have stronger relationships with those around us as well as strengthen our relationship with God through our faith.
