EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about accidental killing and the compensation that must be paid in such cases. According to this hadith, if someone accidentally kills another person, they must pay forty she-camels as compensation. This is known as qatlun dhati or qatlu muharraman in Arabic and it is a form of diyah or blood money which was established by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The payment of forty she-camels was chosen because it was considered to be an appropriate amount for such cases at that time. Additionally, this hadith also mentions ummahatu al-baqarah which refers to female camels with young ones in their wombs - these are worth more than regular camels and so should be taken into account when calculating the diyah payment.
