Sunan an-Nasai 4758 (Book 45, Hadith 53) #19291
Consequences of Retaliation

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the consequences of retaliating in a physical manner and how it can lead to further harm.

It was narrated from 'Imran bin Hussain that: a man bit the hand of another man, who pulled his hand away, and the man's front tooth (or from teeth) fell out. He complained about that to the Messenger of Allah, and the Messenger of Allah said: "What do you want? Do you want me to tell him to put his hand in your mouth, so that you can bite it like a stallion bites? Or, do you want to give him your hand so that he may bite it, then you can pull it away if you want?"

QUICK LESSONS:
Try our best for peaceful resolution without resorting towards any form of physical harm

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the consequences of retaliation in a physical manner. It was narrated from 'Imran bin Hussain that a man bit the hand of another man, who pulled his hand away, and the man's front tooth fell out. He complained about that to the Messenger of Allah, and the Messenger of Allah said that he should not retaliate with physical harm as it will only lead to further harm. The Prophet asked him if he wanted him to tell the other person to put his hand in his mouth so he could bite it like a stallion bites or if he wanted him to give his own hand so that he may bite it then pull away if he wanted. This teaches us that we should not resort to violence when faced with an issue as this will only cause more damage than good. We should instead try our best to resolve issues peacefully without resorting to violence or any form of physical harm.
