Forgiveness is Greater than Retribution

The Messenger of Allah said to him'.Will you forgive him? He said: No'. He said: 'Will you kill him? He said: 'Yes'. He said: 'Go away'. Then when he went away, he called him back and said: will you forgive him?' He said: 'No'. He said: 'Will you accept the Diyah? He said: 'No'. He said: 'will you kill him? He said: 'Yes'. QUICK LESSONS:
Try your best to forgive those who have wronged you or your loved ones even when faced with difficult situations such as this one; something which all Muslims should strive towards emulating in their own lives too!

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of forgiveness and mercy. It was narrated from Alqamah bin Wa'il Al-Hadrami that his farther said that a man who had killed someone was brought to the Messenger of Allah. The heir of the victim wanted revenge but instead, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked him if he would forgive him instead. When he refused, he asked if he would accept Diyah or blood money as compensation for his loss but again, it was refused. He then asked if he wanted to kill him and when this too was refused, he told them to go away and think about it again. After they left, the Prophet Muhammad called them back and asked if they would forgive him again; this time they agreed and let him go free with a warning not to do it again. This story teaches us that even though we may feel like taking revenge on someone who has wronged us or our loved ones, we should always try our best to forgive them as Allah will reward us for doing so in ways we cannot imagine. It also shows us how merciful our beloved Prophet Muhammad was towards others even when faced with difficult situations such as this one; something which all Muslims should strive towards emulating in their own lives too!
