QUICK LESSONS:
Give charity out of love for Allah; Help those less fortunate than you; Be generous with your wealth; Give charity not only in front but also on both sides - right and left - as well

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of giving charity and helping those in need. It was narrated by Jabir that a man from Banu 'Adhrah had a slave who was set free after he died. When news of this reached the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he asked if the man had any other property besides him. When he said no, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asked who would buy him from him. Nu'aim bin 'Abdullah Al-Adawi bought him for eight hundred Dirhams which the Messenger of Allah brought and gave to him. The Prophet then encouraged the man to start with himself by giving charity first before giving it to his family or relatives if there was anything left over. He also said that charity should be given not only in front but also on both sides - right and left - as well. This hadith teaches us that we should always be generous with our wealth by helping others who are less fortunate than us, especially our family members or relatives if we can afford it. We should also remember that Allah will reward us for our good deeds when we give charity out of love for Him rather than out of obligation or expectation of something in return from people around us.
