Sunan an-Nasai 4637 (Book 44, Hadith 189) #19170
Kindness and Generosity of the Prophet (PBUH)

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) showed kindness and generosity to Jabir by buying his camel for one Uqiyah and then returning it to him with its price.

It was narrated that Jabir bin 'Abdullah said: "I was with the Prophet on a journey, and my camel got tired. I thought I wanted to let it go, but the Messenger of "Allah met me and prayed for it (the camel) and hit it. Then it started to run like never before. He said: 'Sell it to me for one Uqiyah'. I said" 'No'. He said: 'Sell it to me'. So I sold it to him for one Uqiyah but stipulated an exception, to ride it until we reached al-Madinah. When we reached Al-Medina, I brought the camel to him and asked him for its price, then I went back. He sent word to me saying; 'Do you think I bargained with you to take your camel?' Take your camel and your Dirhams.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be kind towards others Respect other people's decisions Show compassion towards those who are weaker than you

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrates an incident between the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Jabir bin Abdullah. During a journey, Jabir's camel got tired so he wanted to let it go. However, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for it and hit it which made it run like never before. He then asked Jabir to sell him the camel for one Uqiyah but allowed him to ride on it until they reached al-Madinah. When they arrived in al-Madinah, Jabir asked for its price but instead of taking his money back as well as the camel from him, he returned both back to him out of kindness and generosity. This hadith teaches us that we should always be kind towards others even if we are in a position of power or authority over them because this is what Allah expects from us as Muslims. It also shows us that even though we may have different opinions or views on certain matters than those around us; we should still respect their decisions if they are not against Islamic teachings or values.
