Possession Before Selling

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised people to not sell something until they have taken possession of it.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever buys food let him not sell it until he takes possession of it. Ibn 'Abbas said: "I think the same applies to everything else as to food".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow the advice given by Prophet Muhammad PBUH regarding selling an item only after taking its possession.

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Ibn 'Abbas states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised people to not sell something until they have taken possession of it. This means that one should not agree to a sale before actually having the item in their hands, as this could lead to potential issues with the buyer or seller. This hadith also implies that this advice applies to all items, and not just food. It is important for us as Muslims to follow this advice in order for us to be honest and fair in our dealings with others, as well as maintain good relationships with them. We should always strive for justice and fairness when dealing with others, and this hadith serves as a reminder of how we can do so.
