Sunan an-Nasai 4506 (Book 44, Hadith 58) #19039
Prohibitions on Business Transactions

SUMMARY: It is not permissible to urge someone to cancel a sale, artificially inflate prices, outbid one's brother or ask for a sister in faith to be divorced in order to deprive her of her share of maintenance.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "I heard the messenger of Allah say: "No man should urge anyone to cancel a sale he has already agreed upon with his brother so as to sell him his own goods; no town-dweller should sell for a desert-dweller; do not artificially inflate prices; no man should outbid his brother; and no woman should ask for her sister (in faith) to be divorced so as to turn over what is in her vessel (deprive her of her share of maintenance),

QUICK LESSONS:
Conduct business dealings ethically and fairly without taking advantage of others or depriving them of their rights .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith from Abu Hurairah warns against certain unethical practices when it comes to business transactions. It is not permissible for anyone to urge another person to cancel an already agreed upon sale with his brother so as to sell him his own goods. Similarly, it is forbidden for town dwellers and desert dwellers alike from selling goods at inflated prices or outbidding their brothers in the market place. Lastly, it is prohibited for any woman from asking her sister in faith be divorced so as she can take away what rightfully belongs to her sister. These teachings are important reminders that we should always conduct our business dealings ethically and fairly without taking advantage of others or depriving them of their rights.
