QUICK LESSONS:
Be fair and just when trading with others; Use your privileges responsibly so as not to harm others; Do not take advantage of someone's situation or lack of resources when trading with them.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us that it is forbidden for people who live in towns to sell goods to people who live in the desert. This means that it is not allowed for town-dwellers to take advantage of the needs of those living in the desert by selling them goods at higher prices than they would normally pay. The Prophet Muhammad was teaching us here that we should be fair and just when trading with others and not take advantage of their situation or lack of resources. We should also be aware of our own privileges and use them responsibly so as not to harm others.
