Sunan an-Nasai 4487 (Book 44, Hadith 39) #19020
Buying Goods from Riders

SUMMARY: The Prophet advises not to buy goods from riders and to return them if they have been bought in that manner, along with a Sa of dates.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: "Do not go out to meet the riders, and do not bind the udders of camels and seep. Whoever has bought anything in that manner has two choices: If he wishes he may keep it, or if he wants to return it he may return it, along with a Sa of dates". (Sahih )

QUICK LESSONS:
Buy things ethically, Compensate people for any wrongs done even if unintentionally .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by Abu Hurairah and it talks about the importance of buying goods in an ethical manner. The Prophet advises not to go out and meet riders who are selling goods as it may be unethical or illegal. He also advises not to bind the udders of camels or sheep when buying them as this is considered cruel. If someone has bought something in such a way, they have two choices; either keep it or return it along with a sa of dates which can be seen as compensation for the wrong done. This hadith teaches us that we should always buy things ethically and never do anything cruel or unjust when purchasing items. We should also make sure that we compensate people for any wrongs done even if unintentionally so that justice is served.
