Sahih al-Bukhari 1969 (Book 30, Hadith 76) #1889
Intermittent Fasting of the Prophet Muhammad

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to fast intermittently, and he would fast more in the month of Sha'ban than any other month except Ramadan.

Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Messenger used to fast till one would say that he would never stop fasting, and he would abandon fasting till one would say that he would never fast. I never saw Allah's Messenger fasting for a whole month except the month of Ramadan, and did not see him fasting in any month more than in the month of Sha'ban.

QUICK LESSONS:
Practice regular intermittent fasting and strive to increase worship during certain months such as Sha’ban .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Aisha tells us that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to practice intermittent fasting, meaning he would fast for a period and then take a break from it. He would usually fast more during the month of Sha’ban than any other month except for Ramadan. This teaches us that fasting is an important part of our faith and should be practiced regularly, but not excessively. We should also strive to increase our worship during certain months such as Sha’ban in order to gain extra rewards from Allah Almighty.
