Prohibiting Killing of Frogs

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade the killing of frogs for any remedy.

It was narrated from 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Uthman that: a physician made mention of the use of frogs in a remedy in the presence of the Messenger of Allah and the Messenger of Allah forbade killing them. (sahih)
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، أَنَّ طَبِيبًا، ذَكَرَ ضِفْدَعًا فِي دَوَاءٍ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ فَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَنْ قَتْلِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of killing frogs for any remedy. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was in a gathering when a physician mentioned using frogs in a remedy, and the Prophet ﷺ immediately forbade it. This hadith teaches us that we should not harm animals or creatures unnecessarily, even if it is for something beneficial to us. We should respect all living things and be mindful of our actions so that we do not cause harm to them. It also teaches us to be careful with what we say and how we act in front of others, as our words and actions can have an effect on those around us.
