Showing compassion towards others; Being grateful for blessings; Practicing al-wisal if one is able to do so safely; Remembering that sustenance comes only from Allah

In this hadith, narrated by Aisha, we learn about the mercy of Allah's Messenger. He forbade his followers from fasting continuously or practicing al-wisal out of compassion for them. However, he himself practiced al-wisal because he was given food and drink from his Lord. This teaches us that even though we may be able to do something that others cannot, we should still show mercy towards them and not put them in a difficult situation. We should also remember that our sustenance comes only from Allah so we must always be grateful for His blessings.
