Breaking the Fast During Travel

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was on a journey and fasted until evening. He instructed someone to mix Sawiq with water for him when night began to fall.

Narrated Ibn Abi 'Aufa: I was with the Prophet on a journey, and he observed the fast till evening. The Prophet said to a man, "Get down and mix Sawiq with water for me". He replied, "Will you wait till it is evening?" The Prophet said, "Get down and mix Sawiq with water for me; when you see night falling from this side, the fasting person should break his fast".

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow instructions given by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , Respect those who are travelling , Be considerate towards others , Allow people an easier way of breaking their fasts during travel .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was on a journey and observed the fast until evening. He then instructed someone to get down and mix Sawiq, which is a type of food made from crushed wheat, with water for him. When night began to fall, he said that this is when the fasting person should break their fast. This hadith teaches us that it is permissible to break one's fast while travelling if they are unable to continue fasting due to difficulty or hardship. It also shows us how considerate and understanding the Prophet ﷺ was towards his companions who were travelling with him by allowing them an easier way of breaking their fasts during travel instead of having them wait until sunset or later in order for them not be too exhausted from their journey.
