The Pledge of Death on the Day of Al-Hudaibiyah

SUMMARY: On the Day of Al-Hudaibiyah, Salamah bin Al-Akwa' made a pledge to the Prophet (PBUH) to be ready for death.

It was narrated that Yazid bin Abi 'Ubaid said: "I said to Salamah bin Al-Akwa': 'What pledge did you make to the Prophet on the Day of Al-Hudaibiyah?' He said: 'For death"'.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ قُلْتُ لِسَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكْوَعِ عَلَى أَىِّ شَىْءٍ بَايَعْتُمُ النَّبِيَّ يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ قَالَ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ

EXPLANATIONS:
On the day of Al-Hudaibiyah, Yazid bin Abi 'Ubaid asked Salamah bin Al Akwa' what pledge he had made to the Prophet ﷺ. He replied that he had pledged himself for death. This hadith highlights how important it is for Muslims to be willing and prepared to sacrifice their lives in order to uphold their faith and beliefs. It also shows us how devoted and loyal Salamah was towards his religion and his beloved prophet ﷺ. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive towards being brave and courageous in our faith, no matter what obstacles come our way. We should never forget that Allah will always reward those who are steadfast in their commitment towards Him and His Messenger ﷺ.
