The Consequences of Pointing Weapons at Fellow Muslims

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) warned that if a Muslim points a weapon at another Muslim, they are on the brink of Hell and if they kill each other, they will both fall into it.

It was narrated that Abu Bakrah said: "The Messenger of Allah SAW said: 'If a Muslim points a weapon at his fellow Muslim, then they are on the brink of Hell, and if he kills him, then they will both fall into it'."
أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْصُورٌ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رِبْعِيًّا، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ إِذَا أَشَارَ الْمُسْلِمُ عَلَى أَخِيهِ الْمُسْلِمِ بِالسِّلاَحِ فَهُمَا عَلَى جُرُفِ جَهَنَّمَ فَإِذَا قَتَلَهُ خَرَّا جَمِيعًا فِيهَا

This hadith is about the consequences of pointing weapons at fellow Muslims. The Prophet Muhammad warned that if a Muslim points a weapon at another Muslim, then they are on the brink of Hell and if they kill each other, then both will fall into it. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our actions and to think twice before we do something that could lead us down an irreversible path. It also reminds us to be kind and respectful towards one another as Muslims because our actions have consequences not only for ourselves but for others too. We should strive to create peace between ourselves instead of engaging in violence or aggression which can lead us astray from Allah's path.
