The Sin of Defamation and Fighting Muslims

SUMMARY: Defaming a Muslim is wrong and fighting them is considered disbelief.

It was narrated that Abu Wa'il said: "'Abdullah said: 'Defaming a Muslim is evildoing and fighting him is Kufr'."
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ سِبَابُ الْمُسْلِمِ فُسُوقٌ وَقِتَالُهُ كُفْرٌ

This hadith, narrated by Abu Wa'il, speaks about the sin of defaming a fellow Muslim. It was said by 'Abdullah that defaming a Muslim is an act of evildoing and fighting them is considered disbelief. This hadith teaches us to be respectful towards our fellow Muslims and not to engage in any physical or verbal fights with them. We should also not spread rumors or gossip about other people as it can lead to defamation which is an act of evil-doing according to this hadith. Furthermore, we should strive for peace between all Muslims as it will bring harmony in the community.
