Sunan an-Nasai 4109 (Book 37, Hadith 144) #18642
Defaming and Fighting Muslims is Wrong

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) taught that defaming a Muslim is wrong and fighting them is disbelief.

It was narrated from Shu'bah who said: "I said to Hammad: 'I heard Mansur, and Sulaiman, and Zubaid narrating from Abu Wa'il, from 'Abdullah, that the Messenger of Allah SAW said: "Defaming a Muslim is evildoing and fighting him is Kufr". - Who are you worried about? Are you worried about Mansur? Are you worried about Zubaid? Are you worried about Sulaiman?' He said: 'No, but I am worried about Abu Wa'il'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that it is wrong to defame or fight another Muslim. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said that defaming a Muslim is considered evildoing and fighting them would be considered disbelief. This hadith was narrated by Shu'bah who asked Hammad if he was worried about Mansur, Zubaid or Sulaiman. He replied no but he was worried about Abu Wa'il. We can learn from this hadith that we should not speak ill of our fellow Muslims nor should we fight with them as it goes against the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). We must treat each other with respect and kindness in order to maintain peace within our community.
