Sunan an-Nasai 4068 (Book 37, Hadith 103) #18601
Allah's Mercy & Forgiveness

SUMMARY: A man from the Ansar accepted Islam, then apostatized and went back to Shirk. He regretted his actions and asked if there was any repentance for him, to which Allah revealed verses that showed His mercy and forgiveness.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "A man from among the Ansar accepted Islam, then he apostatized and went back to Shirk. Then he regretted that, and sent word to his people (saying): 'Ask the Messenger of Allah SAW, is there any repentance for me?' His people came to the Messenger of Allah SAW and said: 'So and so regrets (what he did), and he has told us to ask you if there is any repentance for him?' Then the Verses: 'How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their Belief up to His saying: Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful' was revealed. So he sent word to him, and he accepted Islam".

QUICK LESSONS:
Turn back to Allah with sincerity when you make mistakes or do wrong .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man from the Ansar who accepted Islam but then apostatized and returned to Shirk. He felt regret for his actions and asked if there was any repentance for him. In response, Allah revealed verses that showed His mercy and forgiveness towards those who repent sincerely. These verses remind us of how merciful Allah is; even when we make mistakes or do wrong, He will forgive us if we turn back to Him in sincere repentance. We should never give up hope in the mercy of our Lord; no matter how far away we may feel from Him due to our sins, all it takes is one sincere act of repentance for Him to forgive us completely.
