Punishment for Eye Gouging

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) only punished those who had gouged out the eyes of the herdsmen.

It was narrated that Anas said: "The Prophet SAW only had the eyes of those people gouged out, because they had gouged out the eyes of the herdsmen".

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek justice in an appropriate manner without taking revenge or excessive punishment

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the punishment that was given to those who gouged out the eyes of herdsmen. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, only gave this punishment to those who committed this crime and not to anyone else. This shows us that justice must be served and that people should not take matters into their own hands when it comes to punishing someone for a crime they have committed. It also teaches us that we should always seek justice in a fair and just manner, without taking revenge or punishing someone more than what is necessary for their crime. We should also remember that Allah is the ultimate judge and He will decide how much punishment someone deserves for their actions.
