Sunan an-Nasai 4024 (Book 37, Hadith 59) #18557
Punishment for Killing a Herdsman

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) advised a group of people to drink the milk and urine of camels to cure their illness, but they killed the herdsman and were punished for it.

Anas bin Malik narrated that: A group of eighty people from 'Ukl came to the Prophet SAW, but the climate of Al-Madinah did not suit them and they fell sick. They complained about that to the Messenger of Allah SAW and he said: "Why don't you go out with our herdsmen and drink the milk and urine of the camels?" They said: "Yes (we will do that)". They went out and drank some of the (camels') milk and urine, and they recovered. Then they killed the herdsman of the Messenger of Allah SAW, so he sent (men after them) and they caught them and brought them back. He had their hands and feet cut off and branded their eyes, and left them in the sun to die.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow advice given by others even if it seems strange or unusual at first

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of eighty people from 'Ukl who came to Madinah and fell ill due to the climate. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) advised them to go out with his herdsmen and drink the milk and urine of camels as a remedy. They followed his advice, recovered from their illness, but then killed the herdsman in revenge. As punishment, they were caught by men sent by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Their hands and feet were cut off, their eyes branded, and they were left in the sun until they died. This hadith teaches us that we should not take revenge on anyone no matter how wronged we feel because Allah will punish those who do wrong deeds according to His laws. We should also be grateful for any help or advice given by others even if it seems strange or unusual at first because it may turn out beneficial in some way.
