Justice on the Day of Resurrection

SUMMARY: On the Day of Resurrection, those who have been killed will bring their killer to the Throne and ask for justice. Repentance is not accepted for those who kill a believer intentionally.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that: The Prophet SAW said: "The slain will bring his killer on the Day of Resurrection with his forelock and his head in his hand, and with his jugular veins flowing with blood, and will say: 'O Lord, he killed me,' until he draws near to the Throne". They mentioned repentance to Ibn 'Abbas and he recited this Verse: "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell" He said: "It has not been abrogated since it was revealed; there is no way he could repent".

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek justice and stand up against injustice; trust God’s judgment; do not take matters into your own hands when someone has wronged you; leave it up to God’s judgment which is perfect and just .

EXPLANATIONS:
On the Day of Judgment, Allah will give justice to all people. Those who have been wronged in this life will be given recompense in the hereafter. This hadith speaks about how even those who have been killed unjustly will be able to seek justice on that day. The Prophet [SAW] said that they would bring their killer with them and present him before Allah's throne with his jugular veins flowing with blood as evidence of what happened to them in this life. He also said that repentance would not be accepted from someone who kills a believer intentionally because it is such a grave sin according to Islam.

This hadith teaches us about how important it is for us to seek justice and stand up against injustice in our lives today so that we can receive recompense from Allah on the Day of Judgment if we are wronged or oppressed here on earth. It also reminds us not to take matters into our own hands when someone has wronged us but rather leave it up to Allah's judgment which is perfect and just.
