Sunan an-Nasai 3999 (Book 37, Hadith 34) #18532
Consequences of Killing a Believer Deliberately

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the consequences of killing a believer deliberately, and that repentance will not avail the killer.

It was narrated from Salim bin Abi Ja'd that: Ibn 'Abbas was asked about someone who killed a believer deliberately, then he repented, believed and did righteous deeds, and followed true guidance. Ibn 'Abbas said: "There is no way the repentance could avail him! I heard the Prophet SAW say: 'He (the victim) will come hanging onto his killer, with his jugular veins flowing with blood and saying: O Lord, ask him why he killed me. Then he said: By Allah, Allah revealed it and never abrogated anything of it'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect Life, Be Careful In Actions .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the consequences of killing a believer deliberately. It was narrated by Salim bin Abi Ja'd that Ibn 'Abbas was asked about someone who killed a believer deliberately, then he repented, believed and did righteous deeds, and followed true guidance. Ibn 'Abbas said that there is no way for his repentance to avail him as he heard Prophet Muhammad [SAW] say that the victim will come hanging onto his killer with his jugular veins flowing with blood and asking Allah why he was killed. He also said that Allah revealed this never abrogated it. This hadith teaches us to be careful in our actions as we are accountable for them even if we repent later on; it also teaches us to respect life as taking away someone's life is an unforgivable sin in Islam.
