Fighting Idolators for Protection

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad was commanded to fight the idolators until they accept that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger. If they accept this, then their blood and wealth will be protected from harm.

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that: The Prophet SAW said: "I have been commanded to fight the idolators until they bear witness to La ilaha illallah (there is none worthy of worship except Allah) and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. If they bear witness to La ilaha illallah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, and they pray as we pray and face our Qiblah, and eat our slaughtered animals, then their blood and wealth becomes forbidden to us except for a right that is due".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the commandment given to Prophet Muhammad by Allah to fight against those who do not believe in Him or His messenger. It states that if these people bear witness to La ilaha illallah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, as well as pray in the same way Muslims do and face the same direction when praying, then their blood and wealth will be protected from harm. This hadith teaches us about justice; it shows us how we should treat those who are different from us with respect even if we disagree with them. We should also strive for peace whenever possible instead of resorting to violence or aggression.
