Sunan an-Nasai 3962 (Book 36, Hadith 24) #18495
Devotion to Allah and Misunderstandings

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) being devoted to Allah and Aishah's misunderstanding of his absence.

'Aishah said: "I noticed that the Messenger of Allah was not there one night, and I thought that he had gone to one of his other wives. I looked for him then I came back, and there he was, bowing or prostrating and saying: 'Subhanaka wa bi hamdika la ilaha illa anta (Glory and praise be to You, there is none worthy of worship but You)'. I said: 'May my father and mother be sacrificed for you; you were doing one thing and I was thinking of something else'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the devotion of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Allah. It was narrated by Aishah who noticed that the Messenger of Allah was not there one night and thought he had gone to one of his other wives. When she looked for him she found him bowing or prostrating in prayer saying 'Subhanaka wa bi hamdika la ilaha illa anta' which translates as 'Glory and praise be to You, there is none worthy of worship but You'. This shows us how devoted he was to worshipping God even when no one else was around. It also teaches us that we should never jump into conclusions without knowing all the facts first as Aishah did when she assumed that he went off with another wife instead of praying. We should always take time out for prayer no matter what our circumstances are like because it brings us closer to God and helps us stay on track with our faith.
