Sunan an-Nasai 3856 (Book 35, Hadith 96) #18471
The Power of Saying "If Allah Wills"

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of saying "If Allah wills" when making a vow, as it can help one to get what they want.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah, who attributed it to the Prophet: "Sulaiman said: 'I will certainly go around to ninety women tonight, each of whom will bear a child who will fight in the cause of Allah'. It was said to him: 'Say: If Allah wills' but he did not say it. He went around to them but none of them bore a child except for one woman who bore half a person". The Messenger of Allah said: "If he had said: 'If Allah wills,' he would not have broken his vow, and this would have been a means to help him to get what he wanted".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of saying “If Allah wills” when making a vow. It was narrated from Abu Hurairah, who attributed it to the Prophet that Prophet Sulaiman said he would go around to ninety women and each would bear a child who will fight in the cause of Allah. However, he did not say “if Allah wills” and only one woman bore half a person. The Messenger of Allah then said that if he had said “if Allah wills” then his vow would not have been broken and this could have been a means for him to get what he wanted. This teaches us that we should always remember to say “if Allah wills” when making any kind of promise or commitment as it can help us achieve our goals in life with His permission.
