QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your words and be careful with your promises
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about making exceptions when swearing an oath. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that if someone swears an oath and adds the phrase “If Allah wills” then they have made an exception. This means that if something happens which is out of their control then they are not held to the promise of their oath. It teaches us to be mindful of our words and to be careful with our promises as we cannot always guarantee what will happen in the future. We should also remember that ultimately it is Allah who has control over all things and so we should always seek His guidance in all matters.
