Fasting Continuously For More Than One Day

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) fasted for days continuously, but it was difficult for the people to do so. He then forbade them from fasting continuously for more than one day and explained that he was provided with food and drink by Allah.

Narrated 'Abdullah: The Prophet fasted for days continuously; the people also did the same but it was difficult for them. So, the Prophet forbade them (to fast continuously for more than one day). They slid, "But you fast without break (no food was taken in the evening or in the morning)". The Prophet replied, "I am not like you, for I am provided with food and drink (by Allah).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of fasting. He would fast for days continuously, but it was too difficult for his followers to do the same. Therefore, he forbade them from fasting continuously for more than one day and explained that he was provided with food and drink by Allah which made it easier on him. This hadith teaches us that we should not push ourselves beyond our limits when trying to practice religious duties such as fasting or prayer, as this can be detrimental to our health and wellbeing in the long run. We should also remember that Allah provides us with sustenance in many forms, so we should be grateful for all of His blessings in our lives.
