EXPLANATIONS:
Uqbah bin 'Amir asked the Prophet about his sister who had taken a vow to walk barefoot and bareheaded. The Prophet advised her to cover her head, ride instead of walking barefoot and fast for three days. This hadith teaches us that it is important to keep our promises but also that we should be mindful of our actions when making them. We should not make promises that are too difficult or impossible for us to keep as this can lead us into trouble. Furthermore, it is important for women in particular to cover their heads when out in public as a sign of modesty and respect towards Allah. Lastly, fasting is an act of worship which helps us become closer to Allah by controlling our desires and strengthening our faith in Him.
